Give Yourself the Gift of Youthful Skin in the New Year

Do you often shop for anti-aging creams and serums, only to be disappointed by the results of your skincare routine? Fine lines and wrinkles are a natural part of aging. At a certain point, serums and creams can’t make up for reduced collagen and elastin production.

Luckily, laser therapies can stimulate collagen production and encourage your skin to improve and grow smoother from the inside out.

At Hampstead Family Medicine and Burgaw Medical Center, we use the Icon™ system, which includes using the Icon 1540™ laser for skin rejuvenation on our patients in Hampstead and Burgaw, North Carolina. Laser technology can erase fine lines and wrinkles and produce truly amazing results.

How intense pulsed light fights the signs of aging

Our specialists use the Icon laser to shoot microscopic columns of energy that stimulate the production of collagen in your skin. These small beams of light also target pigment in the skin, breaking it up and removing undesirable brown spots associated with aging.

During the treatment, you may feel some mild discomfort. However, you won’t feel any burning or pain, as the Icon laser also has a built-in cooling technology that prevents your skin from overheating.

Following the treatment, you may need to wait up to six weeks for the final results, as it takes time for the new collagen to repair your skin tissue.

The collagen production continues to increase for six months after the treatments. For optimal results, you may need three to four sessions spaced out four to six weeks apart.

Recovery after a non-invasive intense light treatment

After the treatment, you may experience some redness, irritation, and mild inflammation. During recovery, you may need to avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen.

The Icon 1540 laser is non-ablative, which means your upper skin layer will stay intact and you won’t experience peeling skin. Because the laser is gentle, most people require little or no downtime after the treatment.

Are you a good candidate for wrinkle reduction with the Icon laser?

The Icon laser is a safe and effective anti-aging treatment. However, if you have ongoing skin infections or are pregnant or breastfeeding, you may not be an ideal candidate for Icon.

If you want to rejuvenate your skin and receive gentle treatment with minimal side effects, contact us to schedule an appointment. Our team of specialists at Hampstead Family Medicine and Burgaw Medical Center can help you determine what treatments work best for your cosmetic goals.
